Down has a very high insulating capacity while being low-weight. This makes down an excellent filling material for sleeping bags. However, when wet the level of insulation goes down. Wool on the other hand has very good insulating properties and absorbs moisture without losing its insulating properties. In down-wool insulation the down and wool are fused permanently. The advantage of down-wool is that it is not as sensitive to moisture as pure down and therefore insulates better in very high humidity. Furthermore, wool balances internal temperature differences during the night and has an extra antibacterial effect.
