Product Description

The Volkl Racetiger GS 23/24 is a giant slalom ski built for carving smooth, powerful turns on groomed slopes. It’s aimed at skiers who want the predictability and stability of a solid sidecut when pushing for speed on hard-packed snow.

This ski comes in a 178 cm length with a 115/67/98 mm profile, giving it a balanced blend of edge grip at the tip and tail with a narrower waist for quicker turn initiation. It’s mounted with Volkl’s rMotion3 12 GW bindings in a black-red finish, a pairing that keeps the setup streamlined while ensuring reliable power transfer from boot to ski. At 3,100 g per ski, it carries enough heft to stay planted at higher speeds without feeling unwieldy.

The 17.5 m turning radius describes the arc the ski naturally follows when you lay it on edge—medium–long turns feel smooth and controlled rather than abrupt. The taillering numbers (115/67/98 mm) refer to the ski’s width at the tip, waist and tail, influencing how easily it bites into the snow and transitions between turns. And at just over three kilos each, the weight helps maintain momentum through a carved turn, though it does mean a bit more effort if you’re flicking from edge to edge in quick succession.

Introduced in 1970 as the Renntiger, no other Völkl epitomises performance and success quite like the Racetiger. If you love super-fast, long turns with plenty of pressure on the edges, there’s not really any alternative. The Racetiger GS features Tailored Carbon Tips. Tailor-made carbon fibres allow the ski to be adapted to exactly the things it’s going to be used for. The strength and alignment of the fibres define the force you need to apply and the energy that builds up in exactly the right places, which means agile shovel reaction with a precise response the moment you initiate a turn. When you steer it, the GS feels ultra-precise and controlled, and you need less power to do so. Its characteristics are due to a discreetly shortened and flattened tip rocker and, most especially, its changed geometry, whose radius has been reduced by two metres. A narrower waist means more dynamic skiing and faster edge changes. Not only that, but the Racetiger GS is now available under 170 cm long – 168 cm to be precise.
